Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Repair Center Supervisor, the General Labourer – Yard and Shop is responsible for ensuring the proper operation of the yard, shop and facilities while providing support to technicians and mechanics.

• Maintain the yard, warehouse and shop in a clean, organized and safe condition.
• Handle and move equipment, parts and materials.
• Perform various general building and grounds maintenance tasks.
• Perform deliveries and pickups as required.
• Assist technicians with certain basic mechanical tasks.
• Perform visual inspections and simple preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Prepare equipment for repairs or maintenance work.
• Safely use various hand and power tools.
• Comply with workplace health and safety standards and procedures.
• Perform any other related duties in support of branch operations.

Requirements

• Basic mechanical experience (automotive, industrial, agricultural or heavy equipment).
• Knowledge of the safe use of hand and power tools.
• Good physical condition and ability to lift heavy loads.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Forklift experience (an asset).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to quality work.
• Resourcefulness, autonomy and team spirit.
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
