Let’s dive into a captivating story: the installation of an AWA cabinet in a factory specializing in chemical packaging. This is a story of growth, adaptation, and innovative solutions.
During our first visit, we observed that the factory was operating a 40 hp compressor, which had been in service for a while. Our team conducted an audit in March 2023 and found that the compressor’s size was ultimately excessive. Moreover, the current compressor had suffered premature wear and breakdowns due to its higher power than actually needed. The subsequent evaluation recommended the installation of a 20 hp variable speed compressor. However, in collaboration with the client, we opted for a 30 hp variable speed compressor to support the company’s evolving needs, which included short-term automation plans and thus a higher compressed air consumption.
But, this transition was not without challenges. The factory handles chlorinated products, making the introduction of fresh air from outside crucial to avoid any contamination of the Sullube oil, as chlorine does not mix well with it. Ventilation work would therefore have been necessary to ensure a fresh air supply to the compressor block, and additional ventilation work would have also been required for the proper cooling of the compressor room. Furthermore, expansion work on the compressor room would have been required, which would not have been cost-free.
This is where the AWA product comes into play, offering a perfectly adapted solution to the client’s situation. Placed outside, the compressor benefited from a fresh air supply while significantly reducing ambient noise in the factory, a major issue for health and safety at work. The installation, completed in record time on January 25, 2024, was a success in every respect.
The order was placed on November 28, 2023, and was executed in just two months, and since then, Comairco has been maintaining the compressor with its qualified team.
